Shubback: A window on contemporary arab culture

Anna, 2009
I would like to tell you about an exciting festival in London called Shubback: a Window on Contemporary Arab Culture which runs until the 24th of July.

Shubbak (Arabic for 'window') offers a wide-ranging programme of visual arts, film, music, theatre, dance, literature, architecture, lectures and discussion. The festival features work by contemporary Arab artists, writers, filmmakers, musicians, choreographers and architects based in London and around the world including Algeria, Bahrain, Canada, Egypt, India, and many others.

One of the many interesting art shows is Arab-American photographer Rania Matar’s exhibition: A Girl and her room.
The exhibition looks at teenage girls in America, Matar's native Lebanon and Palestine. The result is a moving and sometimes unsettling study of the chasm between childhood and adulthood.
The venue is: The Mosaic Rooms, 226 Cromwell Road, London SW5 0SW

Reasons for doing CPD23

I have been thinking about creating a blog for years, so this online CPD course has been just the right motivation to do so! Having fun with tag cloud creation via Wordle this week and exploring other Web 2.0 applications for communicating and engaging colleagues.
